One New Year’s resolution that should be on everyone’s list is to encourage their entire family to live a healthier lifestyle. Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) are doing their part by hosting Triple Play Fit Family Challenge. Now in its fourth year, 5 families were selected from more than 200 families across the U.S. who participated in the national fitness competition that promotes improvement of family diet and physical activity, and time spent together as a family.
During the Challenge, each family was required to navigate through a challenging obstacle course, participate in a talent show and compete in a quiz show about healthy food choices. The winning family received an all-expense paid family vacation to the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, along with gift baskets filled with prizes to help them continue their healthy lifestyle changes and fitness goals.
During a recent phone interview, Wayne Moss, Senior Director of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation for Boys & Girls Clubs of America shared more details with me about the Challenge, the benefits of physical activity, and how families are being rewarded for through the contest in more ways than one. Take a listen to the interview below.
