Have you ever had had something negative said to you or about you on the internet? It is not a good feeling. At all.

That is why Coca-Cola has launched the #MakeItHappy initiative. Their goal is to inspire people to be more positive in their online actions.

Since 1886, in the U.S. and around the world, Coca-Cola has proudly stood for positive ideals and values of communicating joy and happiness. Their advertising has inspired many moments of optimism, diversity and bringing people together. The #MakeItHappy initiative is in the spirit of those exact values, asking people to stand together with them to spread happiness and help make the internet a happier place.

 .

“Make It Happy was created to ask people to stand together in support of one of Coca-Cola’s core values: spreading happiness. Many have witnessed online negativity and we wanted to drive awareness around the topic and encourage people to help make the Internet a happier place. The {Big Game} ad featured a unique spin on the importance of creating more positivity in the World Wide Web, highlighting inspiring moments of optimism in the face of online negativity.”

How you can join the movement:

If you are on Instagram, be sure to sign the “Smile Petition” in support of Coca-Cola’s message by posting a photo of yourself making a hashtag hand sign. In your caption, use the hashtag #MakeItHappy and share how you pledge to make the Internet a more positive place. Your photo just might appear on the GoMakeItHappy.com website!

The Internet is what we make it. We are the ones who define what the internet is. Most of all, we also define what it can be. The time has come for an uplifting change online, and it is Coca-Cola’s hope to inspire all of us to #MakeItHappy and become a collective force for positivity by making a better world wide web – for everyone.
