disclosure 2One of the things that I love about renovating my home right now is all of the new products and services available that I can use to make my home….well, home! It is my ultimate goal for my home to feel as comfortable as possible while also being a reflection of who I am. I love the products that allow me to make my dreams a reality by giving me the ability to truly personalize every nook and cranny of every room.

In doing research on home renovation, I have learned that one of the best ways to personalize a home and make it truly yours is by creating a connected home. For me, the first step is lighting, and a product that I love best for this is the Phillips Hue lighting system.

Phillips Hue gives me the power to totally transform any space in my home and create new vibes based on whatever feeling I want to create in any room of my house at any time – even when I’m not at home. I can change the lighting by adjusting colors, creating special ‘scenes’ of light, dark, energizing, or relaxation, reading, and many more! I can also create timers to change the lighting for specific times of the day, and even turn the lights on and off –either immediately (like a switch) or with a gradual fade. The bulbs, accessory lights and bridge for the Phillips Hue lighting system all works with my Wi-Fi. The best part is that I can manage every Hue light in my home at any time through my laptop, smartphone, or tablet whether I am at home or away.

For areas in my home where there’s no overhead light or floor lamp, I can still have the lighting that I need with the Phillips Hue Go light. The hue Go is a portable, completely wire free smart light that offers a lot of versatility for any lighting need. I have my Hue Go light placed in the corner of my breakfast nook. It is simple, small, stylish, and unobtrusive; while simultaneously being powerful enough to light the entire room, or just the dining table. Plus, if I ever need it elsewhere in the house, I can take it or put it anywhere: I can plug it in or carry it with me with up to 3 hours of rechargeable battery life.

Although Hue go is not waterproof, it is designed to withstand high humidity – which means I can create special ambience for a relaxing hot shower or bath. I can also use Hue Go to help me wake up fresh and energized in the morning. The deep dimming feature gradually increases light intensity to give a feeling of waking up from sunrise – gently and naturally. Perfect for the darker winter mornings!

Creating a Connected Home

With so much new connectivity happening in my home, a new router was definitely needed to handle it all. Good thing the Netgear® creating a connected homeNighthawk™ DST Router exclusively developed between Netgear, an industry leader in the networking world, and Best Buy. What I love most about the router is that I can prioritize devices for streaming movies and TV for myself, or even videos, music, and gaming for my kids. Speaking of TV, my family and I have lots of favorites of the new TV shows this season. Good thing there is Sling TV! Every member of the family can watch that they want, when they want, on their own device – or we can also watch channels as a family. We can enjoy live TV from many of the most popular channels, including ESPN, AMC, A&E, TNT, HGTV and more for just $20 per month, which is a great fit for our budget!. If we miss a show, we can watch the latest episodes and even new movies on demand. We can also get extra entertainment with add-on packages starting at $5 a month, and HBO® for an additional $15 per month.
