Curb appeal is a wonderful thing. Whether you’re trying to sell your home or just make it look more snazzy, curb appeal is the best place to start. After all, your home’s exterior is the first thing anyone sees when they visit or simply pass by. No matter how gorgeous your home’s interior is, if the outside looks like it hasn’t seen any TLC in a long time, the entire feel is ruined. My family has been discussing how we can increase the appeal of our home’s exterior, and here’s what we’ve come up with.

Tips on Increasing Curb Appeal

Curb Appeal

It might seem like a daunting task to spruce up your home’s exterior, but fear not. It doesn’t have to be the involved affair that you see on any of those home renovation shows. Many times, all it takes is a bit of reigning in and minor gardening to spice up your landscaping. After that, you can move on to improving your homes exterior – but I don’t want to get ahead of myself.

Pruning

In many cases, one of the easiest ways to increase your home’s exterior beauty is to simply get out there and reign in some of those overgrown bushes and plants. We all love our outdoor foliage, but sometimes that love can backfire. Get out there with your pruners and trim back those overgrown hedges or bushes to give your home a more well kept look. Just be sure to Google the pruning recommendations for each plant so you don’t accidentally hurt them.

Add Some Spice

Most homes have at least a few bushes or hedges, but what about some color? If your home is rocking the greenery but nothing else, head over to your local home improvement center and snag some beautiful flowering plants. Select a variety of plants that will compliment each other and bloom at different times of the year. It’s a great way to add some pops of color and drama to your home’s exterior.

Mulch

Another great way to instantly increase your home’s curb appeal is to mulch your flower beds. In addition to making the beds instantly more dramatic, mulch also helps retain moisture so you have to water less, and it also helps you keep down the weeds. That, of course, saves you extra work!

Pressure Wash Your Walkways

Another great way to improved curb appeal is to revitalize your concrete walkways. Over time, dirt and get ground into your concrete, leaving it looking dingy and just gross. All it takes is a good once over with a pressure washer to bring back the original beauty of your walkways and instantly make your home look more well kept.
