Family planning options are changing for women.
According to recent findings from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the average age of U.S. women having their first child is at a record high of 26.3 years old, a nearly 5 percent increase in the past 15 years. As more young women look to advance their education and careers, they should feel empowered to make important personal choices including when it comes to family planning options.
Understanding that every woman’s journey is unique, practicing OB/GYN and author Dr. Alyssa Dweck joined me to discuss family planning options. She gave insight on topics that may be on women’s minds, including when and if they plan to have children, contraception myths and facts, and the growing use of long-acting forms of birth control including intrauterine devices (IUDs). Dr. Dweck also revealed the latest birth trends in the U.S., as well as the latest options women have to help them better plan their families.
