One week prior to his first day of college, my son was rushed to the hospital. He was experiencing excruciating pain in his abdomen that began on a late Sunday evening. I was worried out of my mind because out of my four children, he was the one that never experienced any illnesses – not even so much as a cold. It was one of the scariest moments of my life as a Mom.

My son was admitted to the hospital upon arrival. After many tests and an MRI, it was determined that his appendix had completely ruptured. It had done so in such a way that it was also affecting other functions in his body. He also had excess fluid, inflammation and other ailments.

Concerned little sister and brother were at the hospital every day after they got out of school to support their big brother. Dad took off from work, too.

My Baby. 🙁 I stayed right by my son’s side every minute that he was in the hospital.

The doctors worked very hard around the clock to decide the best course of action for my son. After being treated and monitored in the hospital for a few days, they decided to try a strategy of antibiotics and other medications, including medication for ongoing pain. Then have him return to the hospital for reexamination to determine if he has to undergo surgery. It was also discovered that he does indeed have a long-term illness.

When my son was released from the hospital, the doctors placed him on six different medications at once. When I initially saw the discharge for and prescriptions, I became immediately overwhelmed. With school about to start for everyone and with everything else going on in our home, I was not confident that I would be able to keep up with all of the dosage times for his many medicines. After some quick research, I found an app that would make things a lot easier for me to manage.

By using the Medisafe app, I was able to put the worry of my son’s prescription schedule to rest. I simply entered all six of six of his medicines into the app with their dosage and times, and the app sent me alerts when it was time for my son to take each one. Having the Medisafe app on hand, I felt better knowing that no matter how hectic the days and nights got for me around the house that I would never miss any of his dosages – even overnight.

Not only is the Medisafe app helping me stay on top of my son’s six prescriptions, the app also offers support encouragement and expertise. The app delivers custom notifications for his refills, and any updates that develop about his medications. I have also logged his doctor appointments in the app to get reminder alerts for those, too. Plus, as the doctors work through his illnesses, I will have peace of mind knowing that the Medisafe app will deliver personalized health recommendations and discounts to help me stay in control, informed and on budget when it comes to caring for my son’s health.

My son is improving, however progress is slow. He has good days and bad days of pain and troubles with his illness, and may end up requiring surgery or even a different medication plan of long-term treatment. Whatever the case, I am glad that he is with me so that I can care for him. I am also glad that I have the Medisafe app to help me manage all of his prescriptions now and in the future on his road to full recovery.
