Visiting China tops the bucket list of many Americans. According to the latest survey from The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC,) China will see an 8.7 percent growth in tourism by 2023.
But where do you begin when planning a family trip to the world’s most populous country? It is best to start with one of the best cultural treasures of China: the city of Suzhou. With its narrow streets and winding waterways, this city truly lives up to its nickname as “Venice of China.”
Suzhou China is known for its elegant stone bridges, canals, flowing water, and architecture. The city also boasts the beautifully manicured Classical Gardens of Suzhou, nine of which have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Each year, millions of tourists travel to Suzhou to experience the destination’s more than 400 attractions, ranging from pagodas and temples to historical districts and world-class museums.
And there is so much more! Travel expert Julia Dimon joined me recently to talk about China and share more on what families can expect when visiting the city of Suzhou. Julia is the co-host of National Geographic Adventure’s Word Travels and author of the book Travel Junkie: A Badass Guide to Travel. Julia gave tips on how families can get the most out of their visit, why Suzhou should be on the top of their list for family travel, and details on how families can get their chance to win an all-expense paid trip to the beautiful city.
