As a wife, I understand that one of the most important roles I have to take care of my husband’s total health and well-being. As a result, I make keeping up with the list of things to do for his health management and care a priority. I am sure to be mindful that he is engaging in proper eating habits and exercise. I also see to it that he stays on schedule with necessary health screenings, and stays as happy and stress-free as possible.
Helping my husband steer clear of men’s health issues such as mental health ailments, prostate and testicular cancer, and other illnesses that result from physical inactivity means that I will have him around a lot longer. This is especially true for cancer. Although there are people in his family background who have succumbed to other forms of cancer, there have also been men in his family that have developed prostate cancer in their later years. I want us both to do all that we can to minimize his risk for cancer as much as possible, and the two best ways to do that is with actions towards living a healthy lifestyle and knowledge.
This is why my husband and I support Movember: an annual event run by the Movember Foundation to help change the face of men’s health by raising awareness and increasing knowledge and understanding of men’s health issues, such as depression in men, prostate cancer and other male cancers, as well as their associated charities. Men are encouraged to grow moustaches during the month in order to show their support and commitment to strive to live happier, healthier, longer lives.
By encouraging men (whom the charity refers to as “Mo Bros”) to get involved, Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths. Besides annual checkups, the Movember Foundation
encourages men to be aware of family history of cancer and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Lennox supports Movember as an annual partner with the Movember Foundation. This year, Lennox is posting content on all of their social channels throughout the month that provides information about men’s health issues. They are also showcasing inspiring stories from men and women that have been affected by these issues, whether personally or by someone they know. For every share and retweet that the messaging receives the Lennox Facebook page and Twitter page during the month of November, Lennox will donate $2 to men’s health issues. On Instagram, for every like or comment, Lennox will donate $2 as well.
I believe that love is taking care of the one you love. By supporting my husband’s efforts towards a healthy lifestyle and also by supporting initiatives that cover men’s health such as Movember, I can hold a higher hope that I’ll be able to show my husband that I love him for years to come.
