A fierce hairstyle, a great outfit, beautiful smile……..
…and a jacked-up attitude.
One of the worst things in life is to have your self-perception be drastically different than how the rest of the world perceives you to be. This is especially true when it comes to your attitude. You believe that you are a great person to be around: loving, kind and caring; but because of your attitude towards other people, they believe you to be cold, cruel, or conceited. What’s even worse is when you know (or have heard) that you are viewed this way, and you cannot seem to figure out why..
Your attitude is at the very core of who you are. Your thoughts, actions, and even reactions are all driven by it. It can allow others to see the best in you or the worst in you. It can open many doors of opportunity just as fast as it can shut them; and cause people to be drawn to you or force people to keep away from you. Your clothing, accessories, and hairstyle may be the best, but that is not what people are going to remember the most when you exit a room—they are going to remember your attitude.
When it comes to your demeanor, Beyonce’s statement in her song Ego of “Some call it arrogant-I call it confident” does not apply. Arrogance towards others is exactly that—arrogance. No other way to say it. And we all know that such arrogance and other negative temperaments such as combativeness, harshness, degradation and self-righteousness can be very off-putting qualities when one is on the receiving end of them. You know as well as I do that no one likes to deal with a jerk. 🙂
Many people have it twisted: your perception of yourself is not what defines you to others—what defines you to others is your attitude. Therefore, it is crucial to make sure you stay on top of it and keep it in check. Believe me, it is an ongoing process, and a conscious effort must be made every minute and every hour of every day to keep it in line with how you want the world to view you. The switch must stay in the “ON” position at all times..
Before you leave out the door every morning, check the mirror one final time to make sure you are ‘dressed properly’ to face the day. In other words, make sure that you’re clothed with the right attitude (and never take it off)! 🙂
